PRS Carved Top Electric Guitar Kit- McCarty Model
During the 1980`s Paul Reed Smith consulted with the former president of Gibson, Ted McCarty on guitar design and production techniques. This McCarty model is named after Ted and embodies the most up to date fittings and electronics whilst looking back to the golden age of the guitar.
Wood and Stings have produced these kits with a chambered one-piece quarter sawn mahogany body and AAAA Book matched Curly Tiger Maple top for carving. The finished weight and balance are perfect and extremely comfortable. The guitar sustains longer, and the tone has more character, there is absolutely no compromise to the integrity and quality of this instrument.
This vintage-appointed guitar kit features an inlaid, 22-fret fingerboard and quarter sawn Mahogany neck, a slightly thicker back for enhanced tone and sustain and Fishman Fluence pickups. The sound produced by the Fishman Fluence set can only be described as blistering. All the musicality, power and explosiveness of alnico. "Full chords and fluid solos, plus a voice you've never heard in a humbucker".
There is scope for personalisation of this kit. We have had many produced at the W+S workshop and they are all very individual and bring their builder’s immense joy.
